Who is this article for?
This article will be useful if you are using PartnerStack to manage your partner program and want to customize the portal experience by adding custom navigation for your partners.
Custom Navigation Overview
The partner portal includes standard navigation items like Links, Referrals, and Resources. To enhance the partner experience and centralize important information, PartnerStack allows you to add 2 types of custom links to the portal's navigation menu:
- Global & Group Links: visible to all partners or specific groups. Ideal for general resources like FAQs, public knowledge bases, or group-specific training materials.
- Partner-Specific Links: visible only to an individual partner. Perfect for providing secure access to dashboards, private reports, or other confidential resources.
| Global & Group Links | Partner-Specific Links | |
| Visibility | All partners or specific groups | A single, specific partner |
| Placement | At the bottom of the navigation menu | At the bottom of the navigation menu above global links |
| Limit | Up to 5 | Unlimited |
| Best For | FAQs, public help docs, group training modules | Performance dashboards, private reports, unique resources |
Global & Group Navigation Links
You can use this feature to add a publicly hosted URL to your partner portal's navigation for broad access. You can create up to 2 links and target them to all partners or specific partner groups.
Once created, these links will appear at the bottom of the program-specific navigation, underneath "Messages".
To create a Global or Group link
- Log into your PartnerStack account.
- Select Settings in the menu on the left.
- Select Features from the top menu.
- In the "Configure features" list, find Custom navigation items and click "Configure".
- On the next page, click "View" next to the custom nav item you would like to create or update.
- Enter the following details:
- Name of navigation item: What your partners will see (25 characters max).
-
Destination URL: Where the link leads. Must be a public URL starting with
https://. - Open in a new tab: Choose if the link opens in the same tab or a new one.
-
Which partners will see this item? Select from:
- All current and future partners
- Specific group(s)
- Click "Save".
Editing or Removing Global & Group Links
You can edit or remove these links at any time by returning to the Custom partner navigation items page and clicking "View". From there, you can update any field or remove the item entirely.
Partner-Specific Links
This powerful feature allows you to give a partner a direct, private link to an external resource only they can access, such as a bespoke performance dashboard or a confidential document.
These links are always displayed prominently at the top of the global/group navigation links for easy access. You can add an unlimited number of links for each partner.
To create a Partner-Specific link
- Log into your PartnerStack account.
- Navigate to the Partners section in the left-hand menu and select All Partners.
- Find and click on the partner you wish to add a link for to open their page.
- Within the partner's profile, find the "Custom Navigation Links" section.
- Click the "+ Add Link" button.
- Enter the following details:
- Title: The name of the link as the partner will see it.
-
URL: The destination link. Must start with
https://.
- Click "Save". The link will now be added to that specific partner's portal navigation.
Editing or Removing Partner-Specific Links
In the "Custom Navigation Links" section of a partner's profile, you can easily edit the Title or URL by clicking the field, or delete the link by clicking the X icon in the top right corner.
Tracking the custom partner navigation items activity
You can get data and reports on custom partner navigation items by adding UTMs to the destination URL of the partner navigation item. We do not provide in-app reporting for partner navigation item link activity at this time, but appending UTMs to the destination URL will allow you to access data outside of PartnerStack.
