Updating your account email and profile

Who is this article for?

This article will be useful to you if are a partner on PartnerStack looking to update your personal profile, including your email address, account name, and preferred currency.

Changing your account email

There are two ways you can log in to your  PartnerStack partner dashboard:

  1. Using your account email and a password
  2. By clicking "Sign in with Google" and logging in using your Google account credentials. If you sign in with Google, your account is considered "Google-authenticated"

If you sign in to your account using your email and a password, you can change your email by following the steps below.

To change your account email

Note: if you sign in with Google you will first need to remove the Google-authentication from your account.

  1. Log into your PartnerStack account 
  2. Click on your initial in the top right-hand corner of your dashboard
  3. Click "My Profile" from the drop-down list that appears
  4. Enter your desired email address in the "Email" field
  5. Click "Save"
    1. The following message will appear: "Check your Email: Follow the link in the email we sent to {old email address} to update your email to {new email address} and help secure your account. If you did not receive the email, please check your spam folder before trying again."

  6. Check your old account email and follow the link to confirm the email change request 
  7. Check your new account email and follow the link to verify your new email

For security purposes, the email change verification links will expire after 3 hours. If the email change verification links expire, you can reinitiate the change by following the steps above.

Verify the account email change

When updating your email on file, PartnerStack sends two verification emails, one to the old address on file to verify ownership of the PartnerStack account, and one to the new email address to verify the new email.

Verification flow:

  1. Check your old account email inbox for an email from hello@partnerstackmail.com, titled Account Update: Approve your email on PartnerStack
  2. Click the link in the email. You will be logged out of PartnerStack and prompted to log back in using your new email address
    1. PartnerStack will then send an email to your new email address to verify it is operational
  3. Check your new account email inbox for an email from hello@partnerstackmail.com, titled Account Update: Approve your email on PartnerStack
  4. Click the link in the email and login to your account using your new email
  5. Your email change is now verified!

The email change verification links will expire after 3 hours. If you don't see the verification emails in either your old or new inboxes, check your spam/promotional folders. 

If you no longer have access to your old account email inbox, or if you do receive the verification emails reach out to support@partnerstack.com for assistance.

Resend the "verify account" email 

If the Account Update: Approve your email on PartnerStack link has expired, you can send yourself a new one easily following these steps:

  1. Go to dash.partnerstack.com/handshake
  2. Enter the email address you were wanting to update the account email to
  3. You'll then get a message that says that your request has expired
  4. Click on "Resend email"
  5. Search your email for the new link. Make sure you check your promotional and spam folders. 

"Email is already in use" notification

If you attempt to update your PartnerStack account to use an email that is already in use on another account you will receive an "Email is already in use" notification. 

As emails can only be tied to one account, you will need to free up your desired email from your second account, before you can use it elsewhere. You can free up your desired email by logging into your second account, and following the steps above to change this account to use a different email, or an alias of your email. Once this is done, you'll be able to use your desired email on your main account. 

If you need any assistance freeing up your email reach out to our support team at support@partnerstack.com from your desired email address. 

Changing a Google-authenticated email

If your account is Google-authenticated (you sign in by clicking "Sign in with Google") you will need to first remove the Google-authentication from your account and create a password before updating your email address.

To remove Google-authentication:

  1. Log into your PartnerStack account 
  2. Click on your initial in the top right-hand corner of your dashboard
  3. Click "My Profile" from the drop-down list that appears
  4. Under the "Email" field click "Remove Google authentication"
  5. Create and confirm a password by entering it twice

  6. Select the "Remove Google authentication from my account" check box
    1. This action cannot be undone
  7. Click "Save changes"
  8. You will be automatically logged out of your account. You can now login using your email and newly created password

Once you have removed the Google-authentication from your account you will be able to update your email following these steps.

Updating profile information

To update your name, social media information, or address, click on your name in the top right-hand corner of your account, and select "My Profile" from the list. Update or enter the desired information and click "Save".

If you operate as a business or agency, you can utilize the first & last name fields to include your company name. You can then update your business phone number, main contact email (which will receive all correspondence from programs, alerts for payouts, and be a general point of contact), and your business social accounts and location.
