The LLM Citation Drivers tool in PartnerStack is designed to help you increase your brand’s visibility in AI search (like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude) through third-party partnerships.
By importing citation data, this tool matches high-performing URLs to partners within the PartnerStack network, allowing you to recruit partners who already own the content driving AI search results.
If you prefer a video walkthrough of this guide, please find a detailed walkthrough video below.
1. Accessing the Tool
To get started, navigate to the Discovery and Recruitment section of your PartnerStack dashboard.
Click on the tab labeled LLM Citation Drivers.
Note: This tab is located next to the standard Discovery tool.
2. Importing Citation Data
You can upload citation reports directly from supported providers or use your own custom data.
Click the Import Citation Data button.
Select Data Type: Choose "AEO citations."
Select Provider:
Native Integrations: Select Evertune, Profound, or SEMrush if you use these tools.*
*Please note, it is important to get the by-page citations. This means the end-URLs driving citations, not just the top level domains. Below are screenshots of where you can find this data from within Profound and Evertune, respectively. For Evertune, the download will provide 3 CSVs; please import the "Sources" CSV.
SEMrush
Other Tools: Select Custom if you are using a different AEO/GEO-analytics provider. The process to export data should be similar to the above example from Profound.
Custom Data Requirements
If you use the Custom option, ensure your CSV file contains the following core data points:
| Data Point | Description |
|---|---|
| Cited Page URL | The specific URL being cited in AI prompts/queries. For example, acmeco.com/blog/project-management/article1, as opposed to acmeco.com. |
| Citation Count | How many times the URL is cited for queries you care about. This should be a number. |
| Brand Mention (Optional) | A specific indicator of whether your brand is currently mentioned on that page. This should be yes or no. |
3. Analyzing Matches & Opportunities
Once the data is imported, PartnerStack automatically matches the URLs to accounts and contacts within our partner network.
The Dashboard View
You will see a list of Matched Partners. You can expand each partner entry to see:
Top Level Domain: The main website owned by the partner.
Matched Specific Citation URLs: The specific articles or pages driving traffic.
Domain Authority: A metric to help you prioritize high-value domains.
Identifying the Best Opportunities
While you can find opportunities across all partners that are being cited for the prompts that you care about, the biggest impact will be found on pages where you are not yet mentioned.
Review Prompt Themes: See what queries are triggering these citations.
Check Brand Mentions: If your data source includes "Brand Mention" data, filter for pages where your brand is absent.
Prioritize: Focus on pages with high citation counts that do not currently mention your brand. Getting added to these existing high-performing pages is a high-leverage win.
4. Recruiting Partners
Once you have identified a target partner:
Click on the partner’s name to expand their details.
Click Recruit to program to open the network profile drawer.
Send an invite using a recruitment template.
Best Practices for AEO/GEO Outreach
When reaching out to partners regarding AEO/GEO Content updates, successful campaigns often shift away from traditional affiliate models toward flat fees.
Pro Tip: Structuring Your Outreach
Be Specific: Mention the exact URL you want to be listed on. Copy and paste the link from the dashboard into your email.
Discuss Budget Upfront: Many content partners now request upfront fees for content updates rather than just commission. Mentioning you have a budget for this specific placement shows you are serious and aligns with current market trends.
Example Outreach Template Structure:
Subject: Partnership opportunity regarding [Insert Article Title/Topic]
Body: "Hi [Name],
I noticed your article on [Topic] and thought it was a great resource for the space, specifically this page: [Insert URL]. We would love to be mentioned in this piece.
We have a budget set aside for content updates and can offer [mention flat fee or compensation model]. Let me know if you are open to chatting."
